Bosch 3000 or Bosch 6000?

When it comes to your home alarm system you need to know what you are getting for your investment. Many sales people will tell you "this" alarm system would be perfect for your home but, when it comes down to it what are you really getting?.

We have covered in other posts about what makes a good home alarm system, as well as the importance of investing in quality security products. In this post however we are going to go over the two main alarm system types by the reputable brand Bosch.

Bosch 3000 Alarm System

Bosch 3000

The Bosch 3000 alarm system is able to be used on the NBN using the IP module. It is a mid range alarm system that would suit most house types. The key features are as follows:

  • 16 user codes (8 Keypad Pins and 8 RF codes)
  • Partitionable arming (2 separate areas, most suited to night arming)
  • Stay and away arming options
  • Entry and exit warnings
  • Automatic alarm arming
  • Multiple keypad styles avaliable
  • System indicators
  • 5 progammable outputs
  • Day alarm
  • 2 entry timers
  • Back to base connectability
  • PSTN phone line connectability for dialling (domestic only, no SMS features)
  • IP connectability for back to base or for arming and disarming through your smartphone.

Bosch 6000 Alarm System

Bosch 3000

The Bosch 6000 alarm system is new to the Bosch line up. Being the bigger brother of the 3000 it shares similar features with a few exceptions. This is a mid to high range alarm system that would suit homes and even businesses. The features are as follows:

  • 16 programmable hardwired zones or wireless devices
  • Partitionable arming (2 separate areas, most suited to night arming)
  • System indicators
  • Chime on user selecable zones
  • Remote arming via telephone
  • Alarm memory recall
  • Panic and duress code pad
  • PSTN phone line connectability which sends SMS reports on alarm activiations
  • 2 entry timers
  • GSM module support for SMS reporting
  • IP connectability for back to base or for arming and disarming through your smartphone.
  • Ability for finger scanner
  • Proximity reader
  • Night arm station
  • Ability for external keypads
  • Push notification ability

Common features and differences between Bosch 3000 and Bosch 6000

Both alarm systems have built in diallers and are able to connect to your PSTN. The 6000 has the ability to send you an SMS if your alarm is triggered along with zone information. The 3000 is only able to send dialling signals to you. This means that when you answer your phone you will hear an alarm noise to indicate that your alarm has been triggered.

Along with the built in diallers both the 6000 and 3000 are able to have an IP module to connect to the alarm panel. The 6000 can have a wifi keypad which removes the need to run a cable to the router. Unfortunately the 3000 doesn't have a wifi keypad avaliable, it also requires the IP module to have a static IP address, as where to 6000 does not.

If you have just skimmed to the bottom, some of the key differences between the Bosch 6000 and Bosch 3000 are as follows:

The Bosch 6000 can have:

  • External readers
  • Proximity tags
  • Finger scanner
  • Nightarm codepad
  • SMS notifications
  • Wireless keypad

The Bosch 3000 does not have any of these features

Conclusion

The Bosch 3000 is better suited to home use as it requires to be wired and has no away from home functionality. The Bosch 6000 also suits homes but is more suited for business use. Other factors such as your budget and what you want out of your security alarm system will help determine what system you need.
